Played in 2,130 consecutive games from 1925-39 a major league record until Cal Ripken Jr. surpassed it in 1995; led AL in RBI 5 times and HRs 3 times; drove in 100 runs or more 13 years in a row; 2-time MVP (1927,36); hit .340 with 493 HRs over 17 seasons; led NY Yankees to 6 World Series titles; died at age 37 of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), a rare and incurable disease of the nervous system now better known as Lou Gehrig's disease.

Part one
Introduction contains commercial from Chrysler, who sponsored the show back in the fifties. Russell Johnson complains that Gehrig booted one and lost the game.


Russell Johnson as a Yankee pitcher, full of sour grapes. (Mr. Johnson is best known as the professor on Gilligan's Island).




Part two
Lou is having trouble with his game... a major slump. Finally, he goes to the doctor and the news isn't good.




Part three
Lou and Ella learn to cope as Lou has trouble performing on the diamond.
