6. Amos and Andy - Check and Double Check

Description: It is with some hesitation... that LikeTelevision™ presents this Amos and Andy classic film - Check and Double Check. There are some high points in the film that make it more interesting from a historical perspective. It was made in 1930 and is Amos and Andy's first talkie. There's even a part that features Duke Ellington and His Cotten Club Orchestra. Oddly enough, Animator extraordinaire Seymour Kneitel (of Popeye and Casper fame).... made a cartoon with a catchy title - Chick and Double Chick. Hmmm that sounds like an interesting cartoon!

8. Born to Win

Description: LikeTelevision's Classic Movie channel is proud to present - Born to Win is a 1971 film about a junkie named J.J. - played by George Segal who tries to turn his tragic life around. Ironically, George Segal currently stars in a hit tv show - called Just Shoot Me, ... but I digress... J.J. is a classic urban druggie loser with a tattoo - Born to Win, hence the title. He tries to make one last score with his girlfriend Parm, played by Karen Black. The film also stars Robert DeNiro as an undercover cop, Paula Prentiss as Veronica, J.J.'s ex wife - who is also a junkie, Hector Elizondo as the dealer, Vivian, and Burt Young, as muscle for the criminal element. Burt Young is best known as Adrian's (played by Talia Shire) brother Paulie in the Rocky movies with Sylvester Stallone as the gritty boxer, Rocky Balboa, from Philadelphia.

12. Diaboliques, Les

Description: LikeTelevision™ proudly presents -Diabolique, directed by Henri-Georges Clouzo. This 1955 film remains one of the greatest murder mystery, suspense thrillers ever created. It won a special Edgar award in 1956 as well as honors for Best Foreign Film from the New York Critics Circle in 1955. Simone Signoret's performance is nothing short of amazing. My favorite comment on the movie - it is the greatest movie Hitchcock never made - and one can easily see the Sir Alfred style of suspense at work and perhaps Hitchcock got a few good ideas from this film as well.

40. One Step Beyond - Night of April 14th

Description: This is a great One Step Beyond episode about the maiden voyage of the unsinkable Titanic, and a favorite of fans of this terrific Sci-Fi Tv show. A bride to be, played by Barbara Lord, has nightmares about drowning in icy waters. Her fiance, played by Patrick Macnee then tells her they will not honeymoon in Switzerland, but will take a cruise to New York on the Titanic. Patrick Macnee is best known for his role as Steed in The Avengers with Miss Emma Peel, played by enchanting Diana Rigg. Also of note - John Newland discusses a novel written by Morgan Robertson called Futility, written in 1898, 14 years before The Titanic sank. In the book, an unsinkable ship 800 feet long (Titanic was 882 feet) hits an iceberg and sinks. Both ships could go 25 knots, both carried around 3,000 passengers, and both sunk in April. Oddly enough - the ship in Robertson's novel was called the Titan. You also get some vintage special effects, that compared to James Cameron's 1997 movie look pretty lame, but for their day, these fx were the bomb! I prefer Macnee to Leonardo DiCaprio anyway. And Barbara Lord is very attractive, but Kate Winslet seems more compelling and lovely, probably because Lord is a bit whacko in this episode. This is a great episode - we should offer it as a download in the near future.

41. Open City (Roma, citta aperta)

Description: Working behind barred door and cellars, a group of Italians created this movie about the horrors of the Nazi occupation in Rome during WWII. Agents Mickey Waters and Jim Flannery are out to get the man at the top, Paul Vicola, played by Yul Brynner. Lots of twists, danger and suspense - and one of the agents won't make it!

One of the best in the film noire genre - this is one of Fritz Lang's best works - right up there with Metropolis and M. Edward G. Robinson stars as Chris Cross, an aging cashier who is married to the ultimate nagging wife. As a hobby, he likes to paint and fancies himself to be an artist. One day - he saves a young damsel in distress named Kitty and tells her he is a great artist. One thing leads to another - she tries to shake the old man down with her creepy boyfriend Johnny and old Chris falls in love with the struggling young actress named Kitty. Eventually - it all blows up and somebody gets killed.

48. Seven Doors of Death

Description: The Seven Doors of Death is a cult classic for fans of extra gross and bloody horror films - complete with countless scenes of especially bloody and scary episodes of nastiness designed to play upon our fears. Set in Cajun Country - deep in the swamps of Louisiana, a New York City girl inherits a hotel with an evil past. It seems this place is home to one of the secret doors to hell itself.

Johnnie Bradfield (John Garfield) a boxer with a crushing left hook wins the Championship. But then, there's a murder and a terrible car crash killing the main suspect who in fact, is still alive. So many twists and turns - and Claude Rains delivers an ending like Casablanca. Lots of fun.
